Coddy’s Farm humanist wedding | Rachel + Simon
Rachel and Simon had their big day at Coddy’s Barn in Holmfirth, a very friendly, versatile and down-to-earth venue where I’ve been lucky enough to lead humanist wedding ceremonies at several different weddings now. It’s run by Lisa and Andrew Colwill, two of the nicest humans you could hope to meet.
A working farm, over the summer weddings take place in the big barn, which couples can arrange and decorate just as they want. Rachel and Simon loved the space, setting and informality of it all and the fact they could put their own stamp on the place. Everyone always falls in love with the stunning view too, which looks right over and across Holmfirth and beyond.
Rachel and Simon’s ceremony was always going to be all about their family and it was an absolute pleasure to not only write about their two young children, Holly and Bobby, but to involve them in the ceremony too. As Rachel and Simon’s testimonial below shows, initially they thought the script would just involve a few nice words said to accompany photos being taken. However, once they understood all an entirely bespoke wedding script could do for them, they were completely committed to the whole idea.
It was a privilege to celebrate their family in such a joyful and personal way, creating a ceremony experience and script Rachel and Simon will not only be able to look back on with such pride, but can share with their children in years to come.
‘I first contacted Hannah as I wanted a ‘blessing’ at our wedding which actually meant I wanted someone to say something while we got some pretty photos. As soon as I spoke to her I knew we would be getting so much more than that.
The amount of work Hannah put in from the first point of contact was unbelievable! She sent Simon and I some questions to answer separately, but Hannah was on hand to help out at any time.
We were sure we didn’t want a deep and romantic ceremony, I was initially nervous about telling Hannah about this but she was so happy I did and she made the ceremony perfect for us. Our main priority was to have our 2 children Holly and Bobby involved, Hannah incorporated them into the ceremony so well, our daughter delivered the rings and did a reading.
All of our guests commented on how lovely the Your Three Days service was, so personal, so unique, so inclusive of the whole family. Hannah certainly made our day so wonderful, she was worth every penny and we can’t thank her enough.
